In a significant shift within federal law enforcement, the FBI, under the leadership of Director Kash Patel, has quietly initiated a sweeping criminal investigation into what is being described as a
decade-long “grand conspiracy.” This probe targets Democratic Party operatives and various “deep-state actors” accused of orchestrating a coordinated effort to interfere in multiple U.S. elections. Sources suggest the investigation could culminate in the appointment of a special prosecutor to determine if actions involving the Russia collusion narrative, the prosecutions led by Jack Smith, and other high-profile events constitute a unified criminal enterprise. Central to the investigation is the potential declassification of two sensitive sets of evidence by President Donald Trump. The first is a classified annex related to Hillary Clinton’s private email server, which Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley has pursued for years. This document allegedly indicates that the FBI ignored credible intelligence of wrongdoing. The second set involves Special Counsel John Durham’s final report and the so-called “Clinton plan intelligence,” which suggests that U.S. intelligence agencies knew the Clinton campaign was fueling a false Russia narrative before the launch of the Crossfire Hurricane probe. The investigation is bolstered by recent criticisms from former CIA Director John Ratcliffe, who issued a scathing review of the intelligence community’s conduct during the 2016 election cycle. Ratcliffe accused former CIA Director John Brennan of prioritizing political narratives over objective analysis and criticized the FBI for its role in promoting the debunked Steele dossier. Ratcliffe further asserted that Trump was the victim of a “corrupt process” overseen by Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey. Beyond 2016, the probe is examining alleged misconduct during the 2020 election. This includes reports that the FBI received intelligence in August 2020 regarding China potentially preparing fraudulent mail-in ballots to benefit Joe Biden. Allegations suggest that instead of investigating, the FBI instructed other agencies to disregard and destroy this information. While the statute of limitations on this specific event is nearing expiration, investigators believe the “grand conspiracy” framework allows them to link older and newer acts into a single, ongoing criminal scheme. To ensure a viable legal outcome, officials are considering Florida as a potential venue for a grand jury, rather than Washington, D.C., where conviction rates in Trump-related cases have been low. Legal experts note that Florida is a logical choice given that several overt acts, including the 2022 Mar-a-Lago raid, occurred there. While Hillary Clinton, James Comey, and Jack Smith have denied any wrongdoing, the FBI‘s current focus remains on proving a coordinated weaponization of federal law enforcement against a political opponent across the 2016, 2020, and 2024 election cycles.
