White House Condemns Unverified Reports of Iranian Drone Threats to California

The White House has issued an aggressive rebuttal against ABC News regarding a controversial report that claimed Iran intended to launch drone attacks against California. This alleged plot was framed as a direct retaliation for the recent Operation Epic Fury. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized the news network for spreading misinformation, pointing out that an underlying FBI warning was based on “unverified” intelligence which the report chose to omit. Leavitt demanded a full retraction, stating that no credible threat to the United States homeland currently exists and accusing the media of intentionally stoking public fear. The dispute focuses on an internal FBI alert concerning unidentified vessels spotted off the California coastline. While reporting suggested these vessels might facilitate a surprise aerial strike using unmanned vehicles, the Trump administration countered that the intelligence lacked specific data regarding timing or perpetrators. Governor Gavin Newsom addressed the growing concern, confirming that state intelligence teams are on high alert to protect California while simultaneously downplaying the immediate validity of the reported drone threats. As the clash with the media intensifies, President Donald Trump is also navigating scrutiny over his military strategy against the Iranian military. Although Karoline Leavitt maintained that the primary goal of Operation Epic Fury is the destruction of terrorist proxies, contradictory statements have led to questions about whether the administration is pursuing a broader policy of regime change. This friction highlights the ongoing tensions regarding national security communications and foreign policy objectives.
