Trump’s America: Crashing Crime Rates, And By A Lot

For years, Americans were told that the real problem wasn’t criminals — it was the police. Activists and progressive leaders argued that patrol cars increased crime, prosecutors caused violence, and jails created injustice. Policies like cashless bail and reduced policing were promoted as reforms that would bring fairness and safety. Anyone who questioned these ideas was often dismissed as ignorant, alarmist, or resistant to progress.

But new crime data is challenging that narrative. A recent report from the Council on Criminal Justice shows that violent crime across the United States dropped sharply in 2025. Eleven out of thirteen major crime categories declined, many by double digits. Homicides fell by 21 percent, car theft by 27 percent, with burglary and shoplifting also decreasing significantly.

Supporters of stronger law enforcement argue that these results reflect a renewed commitment to public safety. They credit policies that prioritize arresting offenders, prosecuting crimes, and supporting police officers. In several major cities, including Washington, D.C., Denver, and Omaha, homicide rates reportedly fell by around 40 percent. Across 67 large police agencies, homicides dropped roughly 20 percent overall. While the FBI’s full 2025 data is still pending, early reports suggest a continuing downward trend, marking the fourth consecutive year of declining murder rates nationwide.
