Newly released documents from the Department of Justice (DOJ) indicate that former President Donald Trump was among the first individuals to contact law enforcement during the early stages of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation nearly two decades ago. According to an FBI summary of a 2019 interview with former Palm Beach Police Chief Michael Reiter, Trump reached out to authorities in 2006 as investigators began examining allegations surrounding Epstein.
Reiter told investigators that Trump called to express support for the investigation, reportedly stating, āThank goodness you are stopping [Epstein], everyone has known heās been doing this.ā During the conversation, Trump also allegedly directed attention toward Epsteinās longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, describing her as Epsteinās āoperative,ā characterizing her as āevil,ā and urging investigators to examine her role closely.
Trump also told Reiter that he had previously barred Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, referring to him as a ācreep.ā The White House has reiterated that decision in recent statements as evidence of Trumpās longstanding disapproval of Epsteinās conduct.
