Myosoty “Miyo” Perez, a Secret Service agent who served as the primary site agent for the 2024 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, has been suspended and is currently under internal investigation. The inquiry follows the high-profile security failure where a gunman nearly assassinated former President Donald Trump,
killed retired firefighter Corey Comperatore, and injured two others. Perez has been heavily criticized by Congressional investigators for failing to secure the American Glass Building, the vantage point used by the shooter to fire upon the crowd. The current probe extends beyond operational lapses to serious personnel and security protocol violations. Sources report that Perez allegedly failed to disclose her marriage to a Brazilian national, a move that triggered a “Do Not Admit” notice from the agency. Investigators are specifically looking into whether her spouse had overstayed a visa or was subject to a deportation order. This failure to report a marriage to a foreign national represents a significant breach of protocol for an agent holding a high-level security clearance. The investigation also highlights systemic concerns within the Secret Service, as Perez has reportedly been suspended three times within the last 18 months. Despite being previously reassigned from protective duties, she was recently allowed to assist in a security role in Miami. Lawmakers are now questioning why an agent with a troubled disciplinary record and limited experience was placed in charge of security for such a massive and sensitive outdoor event. Neither the Department of Homeland Security nor Perez’s legal counsel has offered a formal comment on the ongoing investigation.
