California Veteran Known for āTrump Houseā Critically Injured in Violent Assault
Kerry Sheron, a Southern California Army veteran known for owning the widely recognized āTrump House,ā remains in critical condition following a violent assault outside his residence. Authorities responded Wednesday to reports of an attack near the intersection of East Mission Avenue and Buchanan Street, adjacent to Sheronās heavily decorated home.
When officers arrived, they found the 69-year-old suffering from severe injuries. A utility worker who witnessed the incident intervened and helped restrain the suspect until police arrived. Sheron was transported to a trauma center, where he remains in intensive care.
Police arrested 32-year-old Thomas Caleb Butler and charged him with attempted murder. Butler is being held without bail at the Vista Detention Facility. Investigators said he fled the scene but was quickly apprehended. A bystander who assisted during the incident also sustained injuries.
Sheronās wife, Maria Garcia, expressed concern that the attack may have been politically motivated, citing the homeās prominent display of American flags and pro-Trump decorations. However, authorities have not identified a motive and continue to investigate all possible factors.
Friends of Butler reportedly described him as a Navy veteran who struggled with significant mental health issues. Law enforcement has not confirmed whether those issues played a role in the attack.
The investigation remains ongoing as Sheronās family awaits further developments.
