Full articlehere:😱 Mamdani’s Wife Apologizes For Resurfaced Vile Social Media Posts

Rama Duwaji, the spouse of Zohran Mamdani, has broken her silence to address a series of resurfaced social media posts that have cast a shadow over her husband’s early tenure in office. In a candid interview with HyperallergicDuwaji articulated a sense of “shame” when confronted with the offensive language she used during her teenage years. These posts, which were disseminated across platforms such as X and Tumblr, included derogatory racial and anti-gay slurs, as well as content that appeared to celebrate figures associated with Palestinian militant groups.

The core of the controversy stems from a detailed March report that unearthed Duwaji’s past digital activity. The archives revealed that she had previously shared content praising Shadia Abu Ghazaleh, a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which is a U.S.-designated terrorist organization. Furthermore, the report cited posts containing inflammatory statements regarding the legitimacy of Tel Aviv and various hateful remarks targeting the LGBTQ community. While Duwaji noted she was only 15 at the time, she was firm in her stance that her age does not serve as an excuse for the harm her words inflicted on others. This admission of guilt comes at a time when Duwaji’s current professional work as an artist is also being scrutinized. She recently faced backlash for providing illustrations for an essay written by an individual who had lauded the October 7 Hamas attacks. In response, Zohran Mamdani defended his wife, describing the author’s statements as “patently unacceptable” and “reprehensible.” He clarified that Duwaji was hired as a freelance illustrator through a third-party intermediary and had no prior knowledge of the author’s radical viewpoints or social media history. By choosing to speak out now, Duwaji aims to take full responsibility for her past actions and mitigate the ongoing political fallout. She expressed a sincere apology to those hurt by her previous rhetoric, stating that she has carefully considered the criticism leveled against her. Although the problematic accounts were deleted shortly after the scandal broke, this interview marks her first major effort to publicly reconcile her past with her current role as a public figure. As the situation evolves, Mamdani‘s office has remained relatively quiet, having not yet responded to further inquiries from outlets like Fox News regarding the matter.
