The U.S. Secret Service has announced an increase in security measures at Mar-a-Lago and other federally protected locations as tensions rise following the joint U.S.–Israeli military offensive against Iran.In a public statement, the agency confirmed it is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East while coordinating with federal and local law enforcement partners across the United States.
“The U.S. Secret Service is actively monitoring the situation in Iran and remains in close coordination with our federal and local partners,” the agency said. “Our protective model is designed to be adaptable to meet the demands of the current security environment and to ensure the continued safety of our protectees, protected sites, and surrounding communities.”The announcement comes amid a significant escalation in overseas hostilities, including U.S. and Israeli strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure and leadership facilities. Reports indicated that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed during the initial phase of the attacks. Iran has since launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes against U.S. and Israeli targets in the region.
Although U.S. officials have not identified any specific domestic threats connected to the conflict, federal security agencies typically strengthen protective measures during periods of geopolitical instability, particularly when current or former presidents are involved in major military decisions. The Secret Service declined to disclose operational details but said the public may notice a heightened law enforcement presence near protected locations. Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump’s private residence and club in Palm Beach, Florida, remains among the sites under federal protection.
