former security contractor, has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in San Francisco. The tragic event occurred in the city’s Sunset District late Tuesday evening, where officers responded to a call at approximately 10:43 p.m. Upon arrival at the residence, police discovered Samantha Emge, 22, suffering from a severe gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment, she tragically succumbed to her injuries. Following an initial investigation and the collection of evidence at the scene, authorities took Wood into custody on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter. The background of Nation Wood has become a focal point of the investigation. A 2024 graduate of San Francisco State University with a degree in political science and government, Wood marketed himself as an “independent pre-event site security advisor.” On his professional LinkedIn profile, he claimed to provide advance security assessments for high-profile events and stated that he had coordinated directly alongside the United States Secret Service. However, this claim was quickly challenged when a spokesperson for the Secret Service clarified that Wood was never an employee of the agency, and authorities have yet to verify any official federal affiliation or sanctioned role in protective operations. Photos from 2024 show him posing with former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, positioned in front of a presidential aircraft. Wood’s posts suggested he was involved in security planning related to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit held in San Francisco. It has since emerged that Wood and Emge were in a romantic relationship; social media records show the couple frequently spent time together, including a recent celebratory trip to Yosemite.
