Nation Wood, a 25-year-old former security contractor, has been arrested following the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Samantha Emge in San Francisco. The incident took place late Tuesday night in the city’s Sunset District. Authorities took Wood into custody on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter after Emge succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital. The investigation into the specific circumstances of the shooting is currently ongoing. Before his arrest, Wood frequently touted his experience working alongside federal protective teams. On his LinkedIn profile, he described himself as an independent security advisor who coordinated with the United States Secret Service during the administrations of both Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Social media posts also depicted Wood posing with Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff, where he claimed to have assisted with security logistics for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit held in San Francisco. However, these claims of federal service have been called into question. A spokesperson for the Secret Service confirmed that Wood was never employed by the agency, and no official affiliation has been verified by authorities. Wood, a 2024 graduate of San Francisco State University, remains in county jail as investigators work to reconcile his professional claims with the events leading up to the tragic death of Samantha Emge.
