Sheโs got a serious family issue to deal with:
Gabbard shared her resignation letter Friday in a post on X, announcing that she will step down from her role in the Trump administration in order to support her husband as he undergoes treatment for what she described as โan extremely rare form of bone cancer. โ
In the post, Gabbard thanked President Donald Trump for giving her โthe opportunity to lead ODNI. โ
In her formal resignation letter, she wrote that she is โdeeply grateful for the trust you placed in me and for the opportunity to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence for the last year and a half.โ
Gabbard also explained that her husband, Abraham, had โrecently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer,โ adding that he faces โmajor challenges in the coming weeks and months. โ She said that, as a result, she must โstep away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle.
She reportedly informed President Trump before she issued the resignation letter on Friday. Her last day as ODNI is June 30.
